The Arlington Baths Club in Glasgow is a private member's club founded in 1870. It is Britain's oldest surviving swimming club and possibly the oldest of its kind in Europe. It is Britain's oldest continuously running swimming club and possibly the oldest of its kind in Europe.

There is a 21 metre swimming pool, sauna and Turkish suite. The gymnasium has a selection of cardiovascular equipment and weights, and massage, reflexology and aromatherapy.

Membership is by application.

The Trapeze

The swings and trapeze above the pool are a symbol of the club and enjoyed by members young and old.

Getting to the Arlington Baths Club

The Arlington Baths are at the end of Arlington Street just west of Charing Cross and between Woodlands Road and Great Western Road. A minutes walk from either. Nearest public transport is St Georges Cross subway station and buses on Great Western Road and Woodlands Road.

By foot

The Arlington Baths Club is at the far end of Arlington Street from Woodlands Road, about 150 metres. Woodlands Road starts at Charing Cross.

Cycle parking

You can lock your bicycle to the rails directly outside the baths. Please don't bring your bicycle into the building.

By bus

Buses 44 44a, 11 to Woodlands Gate on Woodlands Road.
Buses 9, 20, 59 to Great Western Road.
Buses 40, 61, 109, 119 to Maryhill Road.

By Subway

3 minutes from St George's Cross. Exit at Melrose Street then turn right into Queens Crescent. At the end of the Crescent turn right into West Princes Street and the immediately left into Ashley Street. After the first block of houses on the right is a short path. After 50 metres the baths are in front of you.Ê

By car

Arlington Street is approached from Woodlands Road (Arlington Bath and Oddbins on the corner).Ê

From the West and North Woodlands Road is approached from Gibson Street or Park Road at Kelvinbridge off Great Western Road. There is no access from West Princes Street.

From the South East Woodlands Road is approached form the Charing Cross junction above exit 17 of the M8.

There is limited pay and display parking outside the baths.
