I am very pleased to let you know work will begin at last to completely renovate our ‘Lower Showers’ at the shallow end of the pond.

Contractors will start on Tuesday 1 February and unless we discover additional wet rot, work should be completed by Thursday 31 March.

This is the largest improvement project we’ve undertaken in a decade and has been made possible by the generosity of many members. We raised over £11,000 which in turn secured an additional £100,000 grant from the Land Trust.

Both lower shower rooms will be completely stripped and any rot addressed, new plumbing, drainage, lighting, windows, ventilation, showers and terrazzo tiling will all be installed.

Our historic circular surround showers will be restored and hopefully the marble partitions can be salvaged and reused as well. A private/family cubicle shower plus additional large rainwater showers will also be added.

When completed, we’ll have two separate shower rooms - one for general use and one for Senior Members. The result will be another massively improved facility.

During the work, the adjacent ‘Upper Showers’ will be mixed use Junior and Senior Members at all times. The showers at the deep end will also be available. Use of the Steam Room, Turkish Suite and Cool Room will remain unchanged for Senior Members.

Please bear with us, the work is being carried out as quickly as possible, but there will be some disruption to your routine. Take extra care around the area and our staff will be happy to advise and help at all times.
