AGM Reminder

May 22nd 2023

Dear Member,

AGM - 6.00pm - Wednesday 31 May 2023

I hope this finds you well and also hope you’ll be able to make it along to our 153rd Annual General Meeting. As usual, the main formal business is presentation of the accounts and election of Board members. Ahead of the meeting you can click here  to read our audited Annual Report & Accounts and Club Constitution.

As per the constitution, one third of the elected Board retires annually by rotation (and may seek reappointment if they wish). This year, this applies to myself and Tim Pearson. And after serving the club for 30 years between us, we’ve decided we’ve done our shift and it’s time to retire and relax in the club we love. I do hope you find our final reports interesting and informative.

We’ll still be around enjoying the fabulous facilities as much as everyone else and I’m very pleased our remaining Board members (including those recently co-opted) are very much up for carrying on the hard work to improve the club. In particular our current Secretary Fiona MacDonald is keen to take on the role of Chair and Alistair McNaughton the role of Treasurer. I’m sure you’ll share our confidence in their abilities to drive things forward and I know many of you will show them as much kindness and support as you’ve shown me and Tim over the years.

AGM AGENDA

  1. Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of 26th May 2022
  2. Report & Accounts for the year ending 31st March 2023
  3. Election of Board Members
  4. Any Other Competent Business
    1. Constitutional Review Update
    2. Achieving Net Zero Update

No other business is being proposed by the Board, but as in previous years, a question and answer session will follow the conclusion of formal business.

In line with our constitution, our AGM agenda along with our reports and constitution is circulated to all members. I’d encourage everyone coming along to read and understand the democratic processes within the club. If you have any questions, please contact our General Manager James Findlay and he’ll be happy to meet with you and provide any further details you require.

Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who has made a positive contribution to the life of the club in my time as Chairman and indeed those who came before us. I’ll always value the sound advice I’ve received from generations of the Arlington family that also did their bit for the baths. It’s been a tremendously enjoyable experience and a real pleasure getting to know other volunteers who have the interests of the club at heart. Please do all you can to support those who work hard for us in future.

Best Wishes

Gordon McDougall Chairman 2010-2023
